The Teaching@UW: Strategies, Resources, and Connections for New UW Faculty program welcomes incoming faculty to the UW teaching community and connects them to resources that support evidence-based teaching.
Open to incoming faculty (including part-time and affiliate faculty) on any UW campus, the program includes live sessions and Canvas-based resources focused on:
- Active learning
- Accessible and inclusive teaching
- Course design and alignment
- Teaching the first day of class
- Teaching + AI
- Preparing for challenging moments

Registration for the 2026-27 academic year will open April 22, 2026.
Program components:
- Welcome to Teaching@UW – Tuesday, Sept 8, 9:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m. (Zoom)
- Introduction to UW’s Elements of Effective Teaching – Wednesday, Sept 9, 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (ROOM, Seattle campus)
- Teaching@UW New Faculty Program Canvas resources – available in early August
New faculty may register for one or all of the components. Note: Registrants will automatically be registered for the Canvas components.
Note: While faculty members do not need a UW email address to register, they will need a UW email account to access the Canvas resources and attend the Zoom sessions. Faculty members who do not yet have a UW email account set up can reach out to their departments for a sponsored UW email.
Mid-year registration: 2025-2026
New UW faculty can register for access to the “Teaching@UW: Strategies, Resources, and Connections for New UW faculty members” Canvas site at any point throughout the academic year. Mid-year registration for 2025-26.
Teaching@UW: Strategies, Resources, and Connections for New UW Faculty has replaced the Faculty Fellows Program.
