Welcome New Faculty!

Teaching@UW: Strategies, Resources, and Connections for New UW Faculty welcomes incoming faculty to the UW teaching community and connects them to resources that support evidence-based teaching.

Open to incoming faculty on any UW campus, Teaching@UW includes live and asynchronous components focused on:

  • Inclusive teaching
  • Active learning
  • Accessibility
  • Backward course design
  • Teaching the first day of class
  • Preparing for challenging moments
  • Fostering students’ mental health and well-being

Registration Information

New faculty at any rank, including part-time and affiliate faculty, are invited to register.

Registration for the program is now closed.

All participants who register will be enrolled in the Teaching@UW Canvas site for new UW faculty, which will open in August. Additionally, participants are invited to the program’s live sessions:

  • Welcome to Teaching@UW – Thursday, Sept 7, 9:30AM -12:00PM (Zoom, with live captions)
  • Connecting on Campus – Friday, Sept 8, 11:30AM – 2:30PM (in person at the Seattle campus)

Faculty who are unable to attend the live sessions are still welcome to participate in the Canvas site at any time. After registration closes on Sept. 6, new faculty can access the Canvas site by emailing teaching@uw.edu with the subject line “Enroll in the Teaching@UW Faculty Canvas site.”

You do not need a UW email address to register for the program right now. However, all participants will need a UW email account to access the Canvas site and Zoom sessions in August/September. Please ask your department for a sponsored UW email if you do not yet have your UW email account set up and hope to access the Canvas site on or after August 1.

Teaching@UW: Strategies, Resources, and Connections for New UW Faculty has replaced the Faculty Fellows Program.
